Richard Tetrault

I am a Vancouver-based painter and print-maker. My work originates from my immediate urban and coastal landscape. Working on location as well as from sketchbooks, I am inspired by the fusion of observed and 'elevated' expression that depends in part, on abstraction. Since establishing my East Vancouver studio in 1976, I have created murals, prints, and public artworks that reflect the layered narratives of place and identity.

Collaboration has also been central to my practice—I’ve coordinated more than twenty community-based projects, including Big Print Projects, Through the Eye of the Raven and Community Walls/Community Voices. As co-founder of the Creative Cultural Collaborations Society, I continue to promote initiatives that unite artists and communities through shared creative processes.
