This woodcut represents a waterfall at the temple Mitaki Dera, on the outskirts of Hiroshima, Japan. The location survived largely intact the atomic bomb that destroyed most of the city at the end of the Second World War. Waters from the falls are used in a ceremony that annually honors both survivors and victims of the blast. I have now completed a triptych reflecting the significance of this place.
