Community Collaborations

Community Collaboration

Recent mural collaborations include a series of four murals under the organization Eastside Mural Projects (2009). Located in East Vancouver, these murals were designed with involvement from various local groups, ranging from the Russian community to Commercial Drive’s multicultural community. Sponsored by Britannia Community Centre, they commemorate Britannia High School’s Anniversary. For the details of this project and a list of the artists involved, please see www.eastsidemurals.com.

Other collaborations include large-scale and inclusive projects such as Walls of Change (1998), a six-month mural initiative sponsored by Carnegie Community Centre and designed to reflect Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside community, and Community Walls/Community Voices, (2003) a three-block long mosaic and concrete mural that engaged several hundred individuals and numerous local artists and collaborators.
