The Gathering Mural, first version 2016

i painted this triptych in 2016, as the first in what became a series of tribute portrait murals, completed in 2022. The central figure, Bud Osborn, is shown with a copy of his well-known publication, Lonesome Monsters. Bud was an activist for safe injection sites in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, and was an ever-present vocalist for the concerns of the neighborhood on social and political concerns. Other figures are activists, poets, creative forces and politicians who have made a difference in the fabric of life and community.
