A collaborative mural for the York Theatre in Vancouver, designed to project facets of the community, particularly First Nations presence in the city. We drew imagery from a local beat poet, JB The First Lady, as a way to represent the dichotomy between nature and urban life as well as between traditional and contemporary directions. The serpent in west coast Native communities, symbolizes protection, power and revival. Artists: Sharifah Marsden, Richard Tetrault design, with Jerry Whitehead mural painting. Youth from the Cultch Youth Program, Britannia Secondary School and others from the Cultch and from the local community participated.
