Printmaking

Woodcuts, linocuts and monotypes are my main focus in printmaking. I have been influenced by the prints of the German Expressionists, as well as by Canadian, American and Latin American print artists, particularly those with a social context to their work.
My subjects explore city landscapes and the shifting dynamics of the street. The editioned relief prints are pulled from one block (black and white) several blocks (most colour prints) or by a process of reduction (one block, many colours). Edition numbers range from 5 to 35 copies.
In my printmaking, I incorporate a range of tools including scrapers, punches, gouges and chisels, as well as sheets of perforated metal, feathers and weathered planks of wood. Maintaining fluidity throughout the various stages of a print generally have the most successful result, and they can transform and 'change directions' several times until completed.
