Monotype

monotype

Monotype is a compelling medium for its distinctive range of textures and subtlety of effects. Unique impressions, monotypes have been hand-printed from Plexiglas plates using a roller press, oil-based printing inks and archival papers. Many of my recent works, particularly from the Havana series, incorporate various elements that include linocut, woodcut, collage, pastel and metal prints. They are all hand-printed in my studio in Strathcona, Vancouver.

Due to the nature of the monotype process, the original image is destroyed in the process of transferring it through the press to the paper. Therefore, no monotype can be exactly duplicated.
