India (Jodhpur)

The decorative painting and genre scenes in traditional Indian painting had a profound influence on me. After returning I started this series of small woodcuts as excerpts, referring to the miniature paintings and mythical themed works. Starting with a colored ground (colors taken from beautiful Indian saris!) each depicts a moment in time, a ritual and a conjunction: figure and animal, groupings against the colored grounds, etc.
