These woodcuts (available either singly or as a group) are reflective of the symbolic importance of water as a healing element in Japanese culture. The waterfalls at Mitaki Dera (Three Waterfalls) outside of Hiroshima are revered as a place of healing and solace. Water from the falls are a part of an annual ceremony of rejuvenation for victims and survivors of the A-Bombing of the city during the Second World War.
