Video: Interplay
Interplay is an audio-visual collaboration between Richard Tetrault and musician/composer Bob Turner. This fusion of art and technology underscores the processes behind these paintings, leading the viewer to another way of looking at art. At the same time the music establishes a tone and an environment for the video-maker’s personal take on Tetrault’s images. Through the eye of the lens, the viewer is taken on a visual journey where the fragments of paintings become as great as the whole. Painted passages and close-up textures assume a new life when seen through the introspective lens of the camera.
Bob Turner’s compositions evolved from jazz roots and contemporary new music. In 1982, he gravitated towards electronics and computers. Turner looks for the voices within the works, and his affinity to the five paintings in Interplay results in an evocatively original score.
