I enjoy the form of 'temporary' community' that arises from each mural project, in particular the networking with the immediate neighborhood.

In the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, emotions spill out from the private domain into the public. Murals enter into this domain, becoming a part of it, so I want to project images with a sense of empowerment and positivity.

Working in teams is a means to this end, and these murals bring unique, combined energies and interpretations to the piece. The process of each project is a springboard for experimentation; materials range from mosaic and relief concrete to routered wood panels and stenciled or printed elements. Layering and integrating diverse cultural symbols and imagery is also an ongoing interest.
