Printmaking
All of my woodcuts are printed in small editions in my studio in Strathcona, East Vancouver. In my prints, I keep the edition numbers small, ranging from 5 to 35. This enhances their uniqueness ( each print has small variations due to the process and my curiosity)
At the same time, woodcuts are less expensive than one-of-a-kind works. I also frame my own works, customizing the framing to suit my clients.
Process varies, depending on the effect I am aiming for. They are either pulled from one block (black and white) or, from multi-blocks or by a process of reduction (one block, with many colours printed in a reductive process.)
Others, such as the tall format of the three crow pieces above, incorporate jig-sawed color sections, resulting in an underlay of abstraction.
Inks are archival etching or woodcut relief inks on acid free paper. Some are printed on Mulberry, Kozo or other Asian papers. These are made up of natural fibers. Others are on acid free and archival European papers such as BFK.
